Netflix Chooses Spot-On Actor for Bentham in One Piece Season 3

Baroque Works is set to make a major impact in the forthcoming season on Netflix of One Piece, though the major clash won’t unfold until the third season, and a cherished, popular member has just been cast.

The streaming service revealed recently that the talented performer has joined the One Piece cast for the third season and will play Bentham. This character possesses the power to change into an identical duplicate of any person they’ve laid a hand on with their dominant hand. The performer, who is non-binary and prefers they/them pronouns, will portray a version of that figure reimagined as non-binary identifying, instead of as a drag performer, in the real-life adaptation, as in the source material and anime.

Escola joins several other new cast members tasked with bringing the group to life, such as head the main antagonist, played by the seasoned performer, a talented actress as a key member, and an accomplished actor, who also joins the ensemble as the monarch of Alabasta.

Although the role is a major member of the organization, the individual won’t appear until One Piece the third season. With season 2 likely to portray the Little Garden storyline, this signals a notable change in the timing of the character’s debut, one that could suggest further changes to the story’s structure.

Their mix of sharp comedic timing and deep sensitivity makes them a perfect fit for the role. In addition to their recent voice performance in the animated coming-of-age film Boys Go to Jupiter, they received high praise and multiple awards for writing and starring in the successful stage production Oh Mary!, highlighting the versatility they’ll add to one of One Piece’s widely praised characters.

Netflix's live-action One Piece program is scheduled to come back for its second season on the tenth of March, 2026.
