This latest animated series, the most recent animated adventure by Critical Role, revealed an exciting introductory sequence. It features our favorite group of outcasts, outcasts, and criminals kicking ass and making their mark, while teasing at several heart-wrenching backstories for key figures including Liam O'Brien's mage Caleb, and Travis Willingham's warlock orc, Fjord.

All in all, the intro looks stunning. However, I felt that an element was lost in the song choice.

The intro uses "Welcome to Wildemount", a truly stellar composition created by producer and singer the talented musician. This piece from the official score of the same name, the second release put out by the production company's music division Scanlan Shorthalt Music. It's a great sentimental choice, and I suspect that devotees of the sequel series will love its presence.

Personally, The series' opening fails to capture the excitement and energy that accompanied the second campaign's actual-play adventure. "Your Turn to Roll", composed by singer-songwriter the artist, was an instant classic for me when it was first revealed in that year, and it improved further when cast member the performer wrote words to the melody for the series' animated intro in the later year.

Featuring vocals from one actress, Laura Bailey, a co-star, as well as Riegel himself, the track was catchy and fun. Back then, I hadn't seen the second campaign yet, but it was so infectious that I still saved it on my device. This track that knows how to get you pumped before you start an installment of adventurous fun.

The show's opening with "the new song" fails to hit the right notes for me. It's an impressive composition, but from what I know of the group, I feel that its mood is somewhat mismatched.

Naturally, Critical Role has stated that the animated show will have a few surprises and variations from the actual-play campaign. An adjusted mood for its intro seems to be among these.
